Why the ingredient list has silicones in it
Silicones have a mixed reputation. Here’s what they’re doing in Gold Re-Set, and when you might want to clarify.
3 min read

Read the Gold Re-Set label and you’ll find three silicones: dimethicone, cyclopentasiloxane and cyclohexasiloxane. We’re not hiding them. They’re a big reason the cream feels the way it does.
What they do
Dimethicone leaves a thin, smooth layer on the surface of the hair. That cuts down on friction, so combs and fingers slide through, and helps hair reflect light. The two lighter silicones help the cream spread, then mostly evaporate, so it doesn’t feel heavy.
Why people avoid them
Used heavily, on hair that isn’t washed thoroughly, silicones can build up and leave hair feeling coated. Some people, especially those with very fine hair or those following a curly-hair method, prefer to go without them.
How to avoid buildup
Use a small amount, keep it away from the roots, and wash your hair properly. If your hair starts to feel dull or coated, a clarifying shampoo every few weeks will clear it.
The short version
If you like silicone-free products, this isn’t the one for you, and we’d rather you knew that now. If you want slip, shine and softness in one step, this is how it gets there.
